Partial submissions

Automatically save a respondent's progress so they can continue where they left off and finish answering the form at a later time. View responses to a partially answered form on the Fillout results page.

How it works

When a respondent closes or exits a form, Fillout saves their progress so they can return to their partially answered form later on. Upon reopening the form, they will see a pop-up, where they can choose to either continue filling out the rest of the form or start from the beginning.

How to resume a partial form submission

Respondents can simply visit the same link they used to fill out the form initially. This will take them back to the form, where they can pick up where they left off. If the form is embedded, they can continue their submission on the same site.

Respondents can continue returning to a form as many times as needed until the form is submitted.

Note: Partial submissions are not available to respondents on private browser windows, like Incognito mode on Google Chrome. Furthermore, respondents must use the same browser and device to resume form submissions. To resume submissions across devices, use a form portal.

How to view partial submissions

On the Fillout Results page, you can view partial form responses from respondents who abandoned your form or have not yet finished their form submission. This ensures you aren’t losing valuable submission data and makes it easy to re-engage prospects who dropped off.
